Playwrights - Victoria Kneubuhl, Harry Wong III, & Donna Blanchard with Actors Reading New Scripts for Kumu Kahua Theatre
For more than 50 years Kumu Kahua Theatre has been devoted to presenting plays by and about the people of Hawai'i. They're work begins with developing playwrights and nurturing their work to prepare it for production. This is a conversation with veteran playwright Victoria Kneubuhl, the theatre's artistic director, Harry Wong III, and managing director, Donna Blanchard about the playwriting process in Hawai’i. This hour will also feature veteran actors reading exceptional scripts by new playwrights submitted to a monthly playwriting contest co-sponsored by the theatre and Bamboo Ridge Press.

*Special Presentation: Author - Juli Berwald, Life on the Rocks; Building a Future for Coral Reefs An in-person event - Architecture Auditorium (Room 205) - University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa
Coral reefs are a microcosm of our planet: diverse, interconnected, and full of wonders. Life on the Rocks is an ode to people working to save coral intertwined with the author's daughter’s struggle with mental illness. She explores fighting battles with uncertain outcomes and the beauty of small victories.

Produced for the Hawai‘i Book & Music Festival by the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Better Tomorrow Speaker Series.
